TesseracT – Polaris – 2015
I’ve become addicted to this album over the past several months. This album combines some of my favorite bits of musical stylings. First of all, it’s a progressive metal album. There’s a sub-genre that’s apparently being dubbed by a few called djent-metal. These guys would fall directly into this. The style is one of tight, heavily syncopated, and staccato playing. The rhythm section plays just about as closely knit as a rhythm section can. It’s got some pretty amazing melody that gets stuck in my head pretty easily. It’s got vocals that would bring this into the mainstream without being overdone, clichéd, or grating. (I can get turned off pretty quickly by vocals that don’t fit the music just right.) An overall addicting album for me. Hope you dig it too!
